Slasher Organic Weedkiller is a non-selective product that rapidly desiccates and kills weeds, algae, lichen, liverworts and moss on contact. It is most successfully used on young succulent weeds with underdeveloped root systems which are yet to become “sun hardened”. Slasher can be used effectively under vines, tree canopies, around potted plants in nurseries, under growing benches, veggie patches or any other areas where spray drift from other non-selective herbicides like glyphosate has a high risk of causing permanent damage. Slasher Organic Weedkiller contains nonanoic acid (also known as pelargonic acid) which is also produced naturally in some plants when under stress. When emulsified in water and sprayed onto plant foliage the combination of the pelargonic acid and surfactants spread across the vegetative parts of the plant and rapidly denature the epidermal layers of the photosynthetic parts of the plant. The rapid water loss and starving the plant of essential energy can quickly result in plant death.

 

Slasher Organic Weedkiller is not compatible with IPM programs where beneficial arthropods might be harbouring in treated weeds. This is a positive side effect for growers with crops who also have problems with aphids, whitefly and thrips that spend time in weeds before migrating to the crop.
